Legend of the Wolf
Robin Koni, Native American-Inspired Wolf Artwork with Replica Axes, Accented with Feathers and beads Native American legends tell that long ago, before the coming of the horse and the rifle, they braved the vast forests and endless plains of North America armed with intricately crafted stone-tipped spears and painstakingly decorated leather shields. These early explorers felt a kinship with all of nature, and learned much from the wild creatures they observed, viewing them as revered representatives of the spirit world. But perhaps the animal most honoured, the most sought after as a spirit guide and protector, was the most skilled hunter and pathfinder of all – the noble wolf.
Surrounding the dramatic centrepiece, you’ll find an intricately sculpted and decorated replica ‘shield’ that serves as a frame. Lavishly adorned, it is decorated with sculptural beads, feathers, and ‘leather’ re-created in fine artist’s resin. As a final dramatic touch, two crossed replica ‘axes’ stand guard behind the shield. Together, they create a dramatic tribute to the rich spiritual traditions of Native Americans, and the mighty wolf.
