'Lightning F1' 50th Anniversary Men's Chronograph
Originally designed as a 'trial' aircraft, the Lightning F1 remained a leading military aircraft for over 20 years, becoming one of the most iconic fighters of all time. Famed for its record-breaking speed, the Lightning lived up to its name as the first sustained supersonic aircraft and, to this day, is the only British designed and built jet capable of travelling at Mach 2 – twice the speed of sound! Now the handsome new Lightning F1 50th Anniversary Chronograph pays tribute to five glorious decades since it first entered service in 1960.
On the clock face, red markers from 12 – 2 celebrate the Lightning F1's Mach 2 capability, and the British Broad Arrow (originally used to mark Royal or Government property) adds to the exclusivity. Both chronograph dials are inspired by the original Lightning F1 cockpit dials, plus, the Lightning F1's yellow and black geometric markings flank the roundel and the stainless steel bare metal face, symbolising the Lightning's unpainted finish. Illuminated hands and markers recall the look of classic pilots' watches and rivet detailing on the fixed bezel reflects the Lightning F1's sleek design.
