The first-ever Silver Crown Coin to feature double-sided portraits of HM Queen Elizabeth II

in 2018, Her Majesty The Queen celebrated her Sapphire Coronation Jubilee – the only monarch in British history ever to do so. It is yet another milestone in the reign of our remarkable longest-ever reigning monarch. To celebrate a unique coin was issued: an impressive 925 silver one crown coin, with rich blue enamel and 24-carat gold-plating.

A world-first coin for a record-breaking reign

Following in the tradition of Jubilee coinage, set during the reign of Queen Victoria the 2018 Sapphire Coronation Portraits Silver Crown is the world's first silver crown coin to feature a double-sided effigy of HM Queen Elizabeth II. This is the first time a silver coin has been minted depicting the queen’s effigies in this way. The cameo 1953 coronation portrait is struck in relief against the lustrous backdrop of sapphire blue enamelling, chosen to match the anniversary that this coin celebrates. Surrounding the portrait is a garter design reminiscent of the Queen’s Badge of The Order of the Garter.

Beautifuly portraying our Queen, then and now

The exceptional obverse effigy is the work of Commonwealth coin designer Joel Iskowitz. It shows a refined and mature Queen as she is today, wearing the royal diadem. The reverse ‘young’ effigy of the Queen is inspired by the portrait that appeared on the first coins of Her Majesty’s reign in 1953. Fittingly the design of the Sapphire Coronation Jubilee Portrait Coin combines the royal portrait with an inscribed garter. Most often associated with gold sovereigns, the garter featured the inscription: ONE CROWN MCMLIII ELIZABETH II DEI GRA REG FID DEF 'Reigning by the grace of God, Defender of the Faith'.

Struck on one day only — 2 June 2018 — the day of The Queen's Sapphire Coronation Jubilee

This is a coin that takes its place in history. It was struck on the actual 65th anniversary of The Queen's Coronation  — the 2nd of June 2018, to an immaculate proof finish. Only 2,018 coins were struck on the day – an exceptionally small mintage for such a historic commemorative issue. The mintage limit, is, of course, a unique nod to the year of the Queen's Sapphire Coronation Jubilee. And as it is a ‘Struck on the Day’ issue this means that once the edition limit is sold out, it can never be repeated.

Crafted in solid silver, each coin is uniquely numbered within the edition limit – which means no two pieces are the same. Your piece is completely unique to you, making it the ultimate collectors’ edition. A strict application procedure is in place with priority established on a ‘first come first served basis’. The earliest orders will receive the lowest edition numbers. Orders will be processed in strict order of receipt. Because of this, orders are limited to one coin per household. Each coin is backed by our 14-day returns guarantee. An informative Certificate of Authenticity is included FREE of charge with your coin.

This offer is likely to attract considerable interest, from coin collectors and royal enthusiasts alike. Don't hesitate – place your order today!
